One of the state’s longest running rivalries gets a prime spot for the next two years.
The Greene County football team learned it’s complete home and away schedule for the 2018/2019 campaigns in a release by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
The Rams open the 2018 slate on the road in Perry Aug. 24 for the annual Bell Cow game, adding intrigue to a heated rivalry. They’ll host the home-opener a week later against Nevada.
Class 2A, District 9 play begins Sept. 21 on the road against Shenandoah. Greene County was awarded four home games this coming fall with three of their first four contests on the road. They’ll travel a total of 546 miles round trip for their five road games, with a trek to Red Oak a two-hour one way trip (111 miles).
The Rams will have five home games in 2019.
Greene County moved down to 2A for the current two-year cycle after they spent the previous two in Class 3A, in one of the toughest districts in the state.
Fall practice begins Aug. 6.
